According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in September, 2005:

  1. Michigan: 62,400
  2. Texas: 60,600
  3. California: 57,500

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in September, 2005:

  1. Hawaii: -900
  2. Florida: 1,500
  3. Louisiana: 1,700
