According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in August, 2006:

  1. Florida: 85,700
  2. North Carolina: 56,000
  3. Texas: 25,000

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in August, 2006:

  1. New York: -21,000
  2. Washington: -14,100
  3. New Jersey: -10,300
