According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in December, 2006:

  1. New York: 7,500
  2. Indiana: 2,700
  3. Minnesota: 2,600

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in December, 2006:

  1. California: -6,800
  2. Washington: -5,700
  3. Illinois: -5,300
