According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in September, 2006:

  1. California: 60,000
  2. Texas: 60,000
  3. Michigan: 57,800

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in September, 2006:

  1. Hawaii: -600
  2. Florida: 0
  3. Virginia: 1,600
