According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in February, 2007:

  1. California: 19,300
  2. New York: 16,700
  3. Illinois: 13,900

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in February, 2007:

  1. Maine: -300
  2. Massachusetts: -100
  3. Hawaii: -100
