According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in April, 2008:

  1. New York: 7,500
  2. California: 4,500
  3. Ohio: 3,800

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in April, 2008:

  1. Florida: -3,500
  2. Michigan: -2,500
  3. Georgia: -2,000
