According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in February, 2008:

  1. California: 18,000
  2. New York: 16,800
  3. Illinois: 13,000

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in February, 2008:

  1. Maine: -300
  2. New Hampshire: -200
  3. Hawaii: 0
