According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in March, 2008:

  1. California: 12,500
  2. New York: 3,500
  3. New Jersey: 2,600

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in March, 2008:

  1. Ohio: -1,400
  2. Connecticut: -700
  3. Arizona: -700
