According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in November, 2008:

  1. California: 13,200
  2. New York: 10,100
  3. Georgia: 5,400

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in November, 2008:

  1. Florida: -600
  2. Delaware: -200
  3. North Dakota: -100
