According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in March, 2009:

  1. California: 13,200
  2. Illinois: 3,600
  3. North Carolina: 3,300

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in March, 2009:

  1. Arizona: -900
  2. Nevada: -700
  3. Florida: -700
