According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in May, 2010:

  1. New York: 7,700
  2. Illinois: 7,500
  3. Ohio: 7,400

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in May, 2010:

  1. Alaska: -1,200
  2. Arizona: -1,000
  3. Mississippi: -900
