According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in September, 2010:
- California: 60,900
- Michigan: 36,100
- Massachusetts: 32,000
On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in September, 2010:
- Florida: -3,400
- Hawaii: -700
- Georgia: 1,700
