According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in February, 2011:

  1. New York: 17,700
  2. California: 15,200
  3. Illinois: 13,200

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in February, 2011:

  1. Louisiana: -400
  2. Hawaii: -100
  3. New Hampshire: 200
