According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in August, 2012:

  1. Florida: 74,900
  2. North Carolina: 66,600
  3. Indiana: 36,500

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in August, 2012:

  1. New York: -17,600
  2. New Jersey: -9,500
  3. Massachusetts: -5,600
