According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in September, 2012:

  1. California: 54,200
  2. Illinois: 37,100
  3. Michigan: 35,200

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in September, 2012:

  1. Hawaii: -900
  2. Florida: -800
  3. Delaware: 1,600
