According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in May, 2014:

  1. Illinois: 12,000
  2. Ohio: 10,300
  3. California: 6,800

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in May, 2014:

  1. Arizona: -4,100
  2. New Jersey: -900
  3. Mississippi: -400
