According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in December, 2016:

  1. Illinois: 6,300
  2. New York: 1,600
  3. Indiana: 1,500

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in December, 2016:

  1. California: -8,900
  2. Ohio: -7,900
  3. Michigan: -5,100
