According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in October, 2016:

  1. California: 43,800
  2. New York: 31,200
  3. New Jersey: 19,300

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in October, 2016:

  1. Indiana: -5,500
  2. Illinois: -3,200
  3. Nevada: -1,100
