According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in September, 2017:

  1. California: 78,800
  2. Michigan: 35,500
  3. Illinois: 32,800

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in September, 2017:

  1. Hawaii: -400
  2. Florida: 100
  3. Georgia: 1,600
