According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in September, 2018:
- California: 71,100
- Massachusetts: 35,500
- Illinois: 33,700
On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in September, 2018:
- Hawaii: -700
- Georgia: 1,500
