According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in May, 2021:

  1. California: 17,800
  2. Illinois: 5,800
  3. New York: 5,000

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in May, 2021:

  1. Georgia: -400
  2. Mississippi: -100
  3. Hawaii: -100
