According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Manufacturing industry (not seasonally adjusted) in May, 2003:

  1. Michigan: 5,400
  2. Ohio: 3,900
  3. Louisiana: 2,500

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Manufacturing industry (not seasonally adjusted) in May, 2003:

  1. North Carolina: -4,700
  2. Texas: -2,900
  3. Illinois: -2,100
