According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Manufacturing industry (not seasonally adjusted) in August, 2008:

  1. Michigan: 24,200
  2. Indiana: 6,400
  3. California: 2,800

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Manufacturing industry (not seasonally adjusted) in August, 2008:

  1. Kansas: -5,800
  2. Alaska: -2,200
  3. Missouri: -2,000
