According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Retail Trade industry (not seasonally adjusted) in September, 2002:

  1. California: 8,400
  2. Missouri: 4,200
  3. Tennessee: 1,800

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Retail Trade industry (not seasonally adjusted) in September, 2002:

  1. Ohio: -5,500
  2. Pennsylvania: -4,600
  3. Texas: -4,500
