According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Retail Trade industry (not seasonally adjusted) in January, 2005:

  1. District of Columbia: -1,000
  2. Wyoming: -1,500
  3. Alaska: -1,700

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Retail Trade industry (not seasonally adjusted) in January, 2005:

  1. California: -89,800
  2. New York: -60,600
  3. Texas: -50,900
