According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Retail Trade industry (not seasonally adjusted) in January, 2010:

  1. District of Columbia: -500
  2. Alaska: -1,500
  3. North Dakota: -1,600

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Retail Trade industry (not seasonally adjusted) in January, 2010:

  1. California: -79,700
  2. New York: -47,400
  3. Ohio: -34,500
