According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the State Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in March, 2002:

  1. California: 9,300
  2. Texas: 4,100
  3. Maryland: 3,400

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the State Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in March, 2002:

  1. Michigan: -1,900
  2. Pennsylvania: -800
  3. Indiana: -800
