According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the State Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in September, 2005:

  1. North Carolina: 22,700
  2. Indiana: 17,200
  3. Michigan: 16,600

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the State Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in September, 2005:

  1. Oregon: -800
  2. Wyoming: 700
  3. South Dakota: 1,000
