According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the State Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in August, 2006:

  1. Texas: 6,600
  2. Indiana: 4,400
  3. Georgia: 4,200

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the State Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in August, 2006:

  1. California: -3,300
  2. Connecticut: -1,300
  3. North Carolina: -1,000
