According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the State Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in December, 2006:

  1. Virginia: 1,600
  2. Kansas: 900
  3. Alabama: 800

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the State Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in December, 2006:

  1. Pennsylvania: -5,800
  2. Florida: -5,100
  3. Arizona: -4,600
