According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the State Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in October, 2006:

  1. California: 13,200
  2. Texas: 11,300
  3. Washington: 9,300

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the State Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in October, 2006:

  1. Virginia: -5,100
  2. Kentucky: -1,800
  3. Mississippi: -800
