According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the State Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in December, 2008:

  1. Alabama: 1,100
  2. Nebraska: 500
  3. Oklahoma: 300

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the State Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in December, 2008:

  1. Indiana: -5,400
  2. Florida: -4,900
  3. Michigan: -4,800
