According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the State Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in June, 2008:

  1. Alaska: 200
  2. California: -400
  3. Mississippi: -1,000

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the State Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in June, 2008:

  1. North Carolina: -20,300
  2. Colorado: -11,900
  3. Maryland: -11,800
