According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the State Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in March, 2008:

  1. California: 4,700
  2. Maryland: 3,400
  3. North Carolina: 2,900

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the State Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in March, 2008:

  1. Florida: -3,200
  2. Illinois: -1,300
  3. Louisiana: -1,100
