According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the State Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in October, 2008:

  1. California: 17,500
  2. Ohio: 6,100
  3. Massachusetts: 5,700

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the State Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in October, 2008:

  1. Alaska: 100
  2. New York: 200
  3. Mississippi: 200
