According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the State Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in May, 2010:

  1. New York: 3,000
  2. California: 2,400
  3. North Carolina: 600

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the State Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in May, 2010:

  1. Michigan: -15,400
  2. Illinois: -8,700
  3. Connecticut: -5,800
