According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the State Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in July, 2013:

  1. Alabama: 3,100
  2. Illinois: 900
  3. New Mexico: 900

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the State Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in July, 2013:

  1. California: -26,100
  2. Hawaii: -6,300
  3. North Carolina: -3,700
