According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the State Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in January, 2014:

  1. Mississippi: 2,000
  2. Alaska: -100
  3. Montana: -600

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the State Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in January, 2014:

  1. Indiana: -14,900
  2. Maryland: -13,900
  3. Ohio: -11,500
