According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the State Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in October, 2017:

  1. California: 22,400
  2. Michigan: 5,500
  3. Illinois: 5,200

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the State Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in October, 2017:

  1. Kentucky: -1,200
  2. Nevada: -500
  3. Mississippi: -500
