According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Total Nonfarm industry (not seasonally adjusted) in September, 2002:

  1. California: 62,600
  2. Pennsylvania: 47,400
  3. Texas: 46,500

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Total Nonfarm industry (not seasonally adjusted) in September, 2002:

  1. Virginia: -13,800
  2. Colorado: -10,700
  3. Alaska: -6,100
