According to recent data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the 3 U.S. states that added the highest not seasonally adjusted number of jobs to the Total Nonfarm industry in July, 2003 were:

  1. District of Columbia: 6,200
  2. Alaska: 5,100
  3. Maine: 500

On the other hand, the 3 U.S. states that added the lowest not seasonally adjusted number of jobs to the Total Nonfarm industry in July, 2003 were:

  1. California: -208,400
  2. Michigan: -136,000
  3. Texas: -115,700
