According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Total Nonfarm industry (not seasonally adjusted) in October, 2005:
- California: 48,700
- New York: 45,500
- Pennsylvania: 22,600
On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Total Nonfarm industry (not seasonally adjusted) in October, 2005:
- Louisiana: -47,700
- Alaska: -16,800
- Michigan: -10,800
