According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Total Nonfarm industry (not seasonally adjusted) in July, 2006:

  1. District of Columbia: 6,200
  2. Alaska: 900
  3. Montana: -600

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Total Nonfarm industry (not seasonally adjusted) in July, 2006:

  1. California: -169,200
  2. Michigan: -145,000
  3. Texas: -113,100
