According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Total Nonfarm industry (not seasonally adjusted) in August, 2013:

  1. California: 113,700
  2. Florida: 107,900
  3. North Carolina: 76,000

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Total Nonfarm industry (not seasonally adjusted) in August, 2013:

  1. New York: -23,800
  2. District of Columbia: -14,000
  3. Connecticut: -9,200
