According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Total Private industry (not seasonally adjusted) in September, 2003:

  1. New York: 14,900
  2. Florida: 14,300
  3. California: 5,000

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Total Private industry (not seasonally adjusted) in September, 2003:

  1. Ohio: -26,300
  2. Colorado: -23,200
  3. Texas: -21,200
