According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Total Private industry (not seasonally adjusted) in April, 2004:

  1. Illinois: 66,600
  2. Michigan: 61,500
  3. Ohio: 55,100

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Total Private industry (not seasonally adjusted) in April, 2004:

  1. Vermont: -1,900
  2. Hawaii: 1,400
  3. Delaware: 1,400
