According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Total Private industry (not seasonally adjusted) in September, 2004:

  1. New York: 16,700
  2. California: 7,600
  3. Nevada: 4,900

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Total Private industry (not seasonally adjusted) in September, 2004:

  1. Texas: -33,600
  2. Florida: -27,100
  3. Wisconsin: -26,400
