According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Total Private industry (not seasonally adjusted) in April, 2006:

  1. Illinois: 60,600
  2. Pennsylvania: 57,500
  3. New York: 53,700

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Total Private industry (not seasonally adjusted) in April, 2006:

  1. Florida: -16,500
  2. Vermont: -3,000
  3. Hawaii: -2,000
