According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Total Private industry (not seasonally adjusted) in October, 2006:

  1. New York: 43,500
  2. Georgia: 25,400
  3. Pennsylvania: 15,600

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Total Private industry (not seasonally adjusted) in October, 2006:

  1. Michigan: -37,000
  2. California: -23,500
  3. Alaska: -19,000
