According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Total Private industry (not seasonally adjusted) in September, 2017:

  1. Arizona: 11,000
  2. Arkansas: 5,400
  3. District of Columbia: 4,000

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Total Private industry (not seasonally adjusted) in September, 2017:

  1. Florida: -172,800
  2. Massachusetts: -39,500
  3. Ohio: -38,600
